Switzerland is a brunch nation. The combination of breakfast and lunch belongs to Sunday, like the Vogellisi to Adelboden. Are you a minimalist at brunch? Are you one of the gourmets? Or are you one of the Birchermüesli advocates? Find out which brunch types you will find at the buffet of the Restaurant Sillerenbühl. Can you find yourself again?
The seven brunch types
1. The minimalist
As on all other 364 days, the minimalist eats smoked bread with butter and jam. What else? The big choice at the Silleren Buffet? He is not interested! He enjoys his Café crème and if it gets high a glass of orange juice.
2. The Birchermüesli advocate
You will find him at the Silleren Brunch Buffet in the müesli and cereal corner. Healthy food is the top priority for him, which is put on his plate (or in his cereal bowl), which consists of the whole grain. In addition, the Birchermüesli advocate enjoys fresh fruit and a slice of brown bread – with margarine. After all, the very thought of butter, cipollate and bacon makes his hair stand on end.
3. The do-gooder
He is the Birchermüesli advocate’s best friend, because they both have a similar ticking. Nevertheless, unlike him, the do-gooder can get on the nerves of his fellow man. No brunch goes by without him commenting on the selected dishes on the plates of his table neighbours and calculating not only calories but also the CO2 balance of their delicacies.
4. The gourmet
For him, an extensive brunch includes salmon and champagne. In addition, the gourmet can tell exactly what the exact brewing temperature for your espresso is. He is at home in the world of exquisite food and knows all the culinary refinements very well. Moreover, he has the right vocabulary to make his fellow men roll their eyes.
5. The “Hangry” type
If he is hungry, you should not get in his way. Because it is best not to tangle wiht him. Especially in the morning. Anyway, it is a rarity that he leaves the house without breakfast. The cable car ride on Silleren takes him forever. The hole in his stomach seems to be huge. Then the “hangry” type at the buffet knows how to make the most of gaps, to push himself forward and hastily shovel everything that has space onto his plate. For him, there is only one goal: to get back to his table as quickly as possible and have some breakfast. After all, it is almost 9 o’clock.
6. The foodie
He is a connoisseur through and through. When he is eating, everything else has to wait. He is also the Mr. Insatiable at the brunch. When everyone at the table is stuffed, he really gets going. However, he does not overdo it, on the contrary: he simply enjoys it morsel by morsel, taking his time, celebrating every bite and chatting extensively with his neighbours. All he would need in addition for a perfect start to the day is a Sunday newspaper. The gourmet does not seem to notice that everyone around him is waiting impatiently for him to eat up – no, he would rather order more coffee and get a last sweet pastry from the buffet. It would be a pity not to have tried everything!
7. The lazy man
The lazy one gets along wonderfully with the foodie; he too celebrates the large brunch selection. Once everything from the buffet – that is also his motto. However, to get up again every time is too tiring for him. He prefers to take advantage of the moment and have everything brought to him by his neighbours. If that was not enough, he complains if it is the wrong jam or if he has been given a wholemeal croissant instead of a French one.
