With the following tips and tricks your trip to the winter hiking paradise at VogellisiBerg will be unforgettable:
Winter hiking: safe on the way
1. Good footwear
The be-all and end-all of winter hiking is the right footwear. Make sure that your shoes offer good support and are waterproof. Nothing is more unpleasant than wet feet.
2. Waterproof & warm winter clothing
Dress according to the onion principle and always have a T-shirt and jumper with you to change. Also recommended: a water-repellent jacket and trousers. This way you are prepared for all weather conditions.
3. Sticks and spikes
In the snow and on slippery surfaces, the best way to make progress is with sticks and spikes. In this way you avoid unnecessary falls and dangers. Sticks even help you to improve your posture and breathing when hiking.
4. Sun protection
While it is often grey in the valley, the VogellisiBerg is full of sunshine. However, UV radiation is many times higher due to the reflection of snow in winter. So protect yourself with sun cream, a hat or cap and sunglasses.
5. Warm drinks
Nothing is more beautiful than a well-earned rest during a winter hike. Surrounded by white mountain peaks and magnificent views, the warm tea from the thermos tastes twice as good. And it warms cold hands.
6. Follow the signpost
As in summer, certain rules apply to hiking in winter too. Never step off the track and follow the pink signposts and the pink fence posts that rise out of the snow along the path. Respect the course of the trail and allow nature and its inhabitants the space and peace they need.
